Short answer

Everpaper is a Mac app that keeps a searchable memory of your workdays and meetings. It records what was on your screen and what was said in your calls, runs transcription and search on the Mac, and answers questions with the exact screenshot or moment in the recording. It is in private beta for macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon, and recordings and screenshots never leave the Mac. Text reaches an AI provider only if you connect one that runs off this Mac.

What it does

Everpaper keeps a record of your work so you can ask for it later. It has five parts.

The day journal. Start your workday journal and Everpaper takes a screenshot of each display every 2 minutes by default and reads it on your Mac. A second mode adds extra images of the window you are working in after meaningful changes, at most one every 30 seconds. A third, Activity only, keeps a timeline of apps and windows and takes no screenshots. If you set up an AI provider, it writes the day up as a narrative you review at the end of the day.

Meetings. Press ⇧⌘M from any app to record your microphone and the call’s system audio as separate tracks. Transcription and speaker labels run on the Mac. No bot joins the call and recordings are never uploaded. Saved meetings export as text, Markdown, SRT, WebVTT or JSON, and the audio saves as an .m4a file.

Memory, also called Second Brain. It builds a graph of the people, files, sites and topics in your days and meetings, each tied to the moment it came from. Ask answers questions across all of it and cites sources.

The launcher. ⌥Space opens a launcher that finds apps, Settings panes, commands, files and what is inside them, images, a quick calculation, and everything Everpaper remembers, with a web search when nothing matches. It includes clipboard history, which is on by default, keeps copies for 7 days on your Mac, and skips passwords that apps mark as secret, private windows it can detect, and the apps and sites you skip.

Dictate. Hold fn, speak, let go, and the words land at the cursor. It works in Italian and English, a sentence that mixes the two stays as you said it, and it runs on your Mac with the speech model Everpaper already has. It is off until you turn it on.

What it keeps and what leaves the Mac

Capture, transcription, search and your journal live on your Mac. Search by meaning runs locally. Everpaper goes online for model downloads, update checks, and three optional connections: an AI provider that runs off this Mac, an external embeddings provider, and an external agent you allow through MCP. It goes online for nothing else. It has no analytics or telemetry.

AI is optional. If no provider is set up, features that need one wait and nothing is sent. On-device providers keep text on the Mac. Cloud providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter) receive text only after you turn on a switch that is off by default. A private endpoint you mark as trusted receives text without that switch, so mark only a server you control. Keys, card numbers and similar secrets are scrubbed before any provider call.

Screenshots are deleted after 30 days by default, and you can choose 7 or 90 days or forever. Meeting recordings stay until you delete them. The full list is on the privacy page, and the article what leaves your Mac compares the data path of other apps.

Requirements and status

  • macOS 15 or later on an Apple silicon Mac.
  • Private beta. Apply here. There is no public price yet.
  • The current beta build is 2.0.0-b105. Every build is listed in the release notes.

What it is not

It is not available for Windows, Linux, Intel Macs, iPhone, Android or the web. It is not a meeting bot. It is not a note editor, so you keep writing in the app you write in, and it can export your captured days as an Obsidian vault. It is not an AI service: the AI parts use a provider you choose.

Frequently asked questions

Is Everpaper available to download?

Not publicly. Everpaper is in private beta. You apply at everpaper.app/beta, and selected applicants hear back within 48 hours. There is no public price yet.

Does Everpaper run on Windows, Intel Macs or iPhone?

No. It needs macOS 15 or later on an Apple silicon Mac. There is no Windows, Linux, Intel Mac, iOS, Android or web version.

Does Everpaper send my screen or recordings to the cloud?

No. Screenshots and recordings stay on the Mac and are never uploaded. Only text, such as screen text, transcripts and meeting titles, can reach an AI provider, and only if you set one up. Cloud providers receive text only after you turn on Allow cloud AI to analyze your journal, which is off by default.

Does a bot join my meetings?

No. Everpaper records your microphone and the call's system audio on your Mac. Nothing joins the call, so tell the other people you are recording.

Which languages does it transcribe?

Meetings use NVIDIA's Parakeet speech model by default, which transcribes 25 European languages and detects the language automatically. Settings, Speech can switch the speech engine to Whisper Large v3 Turbo, which the app describes as 99 languages with automatic detection. Dictate currently works in Italian and English.
