Calendar Auto-Start

Let Everpaper watch your calendar and start your meetings for you — notify or auto-record, with everything staying on your Mac.

Everpaper can watch your calendar so you never miss the start of a meeting. When an upcoming event matches your rules, Everpaper either drops a quiet reminder or opens a short, cancellable countdown and begins the minutes for you.

This is strictly opt-in. Until you connect a calendar and pick a behavior, Everpaper ignores your calendar entirely.

Connect a calendar

Open Settings → The Minutes → The Calendar.

Select Grant Calendar Access. macOS will ask for permission once.
Choose a Calendar behavior (see the modes below).

Calendar access is read-only and local: events stay on your Mac, and Everpaper never uploads them. They're read fresh each time and never stored.

macOS only asks for calendar permission once. If you decline, you can re-enable it later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.

Choose a behavior

Set Calendar behavior to one of three modes:

Off — Everpaper ignores your calendar. This is the default.
Notify before meetings — a quiet note slips in before each meeting begins. Nothing records on its own.
Start recording automatically — Everpaper shows a 5-second cancellable countdown, then begins the minutes.

When you pick a non-Off mode, Everpaper will ask for notification permission so reminders can appear. If notifications are turned off in System Settings, Everpaper shows a warning with a shortcut to fix it.

Lead time

Under Remind me, choose how far ahead you're nudged:

At start time
1 minute before
5 minutes before (default)
10 minutes before

Each reminder fires once per meeting. If your Mac is asleep or busy at the exact moment, Everpaper still catches the reminder for a short window afterward so a late tick won't make you miss it.

Which events count

Not every calendar entry deserves a reminder. Under Which events count, pick the filter that fits how you work:

With video link (default) — only events that carry a recognized conference link. Everpaper detects Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Around, and Whereby, plus other common meeting URLs.
With participants — any event that has at least one other attendee.
All events — every timed event on your calendar.

Higher-precision filters skip personal blocks and solo focus time. All-day events and meetings you've declined are always skipped, whatever filter you choose.

If you have several calendars, expand Calendars to exclude specific ones — a personal calendar, say, while keeping your work calendar. New calendars are included by default.

The countdown

In Start recording automatically mode, when a matching meeting begins Everpaper opens a small countdown in the top-right corner. It shows the meeting title, the service name, and the attendee count, and counts down for 5 seconds.

Do nothing and recording starts automatically when the countdown ends.
Press Return to start immediately.
Press Esc, click the toast, or hit the ✕ to cancel. That meeting won't try again.

The countdown only appears when you're not already recording, and only for meetings you've accepted or tentatively accepted (and your own untracked blocks). Meetings you haven't responded to won't auto-record, since recording an unaccepted meeting would be a surprise — but you can still get a reminder for them.

Calendar data never stops a recording. If a meeting runs long, Everpaper keeps recording until you stop it yourself.

Changes apply right away

Any change you make takes effect immediately. Switch back to Off and Everpaper stops watching your calendar entirely — a disabled feature does no work in the background. Adjust your lead time, filter, or excluded calendars and the next reminder or countdown follows the new rules. If a countdown is on screen when you change a setting, it closes.

Everything stays on your Mac

Calendar auto-start reads your events locally and acts on them locally. Nothing about your calendar — titles, attendees, links, or times — ever leaves your Mac.
