Short answer

Rewind and Limitless no longer record your Mac, so this is a replacement decision, not a feature comparison. Everpaper takes over the screen-history job on Apple silicon Macs with macOS 15 or later and keeps it on the Mac. You give up the Pendant, Windows, and your old history, and you join a private beta with no public price.

Disclosure. Everpaper is our product, and it is in this article. We say where it falls short, and every competitor fact below carries the date we checked it.

What you keep

The idea carries over. You turn it on, work normally, and later ask for something you saw or heard. Ask shows the source: the screenshot, or the minute in the recording. Screenshots are deleted after 30 days by default, and you can pick 7 or 90 days or forever.

What you give up

You give up the Pendant, because Everpaper has no hardware and records only what happens on your Mac. You give up Windows, Linux and mobile. You start a new history, since there is no Rewind importer. And you wait for a beta invite: apply and you hear back within 48 hours if you are selected.

What is different about where the data goes

Limitless kept data in its cloud, and the service ended in several regions with a two-week window to download it. Everpaper keeps no cloud copy. Search by meaning runs on the Mac. It goes online for model downloads, update checks and the AI provider you choose, and nothing else. There is no analytics or telemetry.

Frequently asked questions

Does Everpaper do what Rewind did?

It covers the core job of a searchable record of your screen on a Mac. Screen history takes a screenshot of each display every 2 minutes by default, reads it on the Mac, and lets you ask questions with the screenshot as the source. It also records meetings with on-device transcription.

What do I lose by switching from Rewind or Limitless?

The Pendant and in-person wearable capture, any Windows use, and your old history, which Everpaper cannot import. Everpaper is also limited to macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon.

Is Everpaper cloud-based like Limitless was?

No. Everpaper keeps screenshots, recordings, transcription and search on the Mac, and sends text to an AI only if you set up a provider. Cloud providers need a separate switch that is off by default.
