Wispr Flow

Wispr Flow lists dictation in 100+ languages on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. The Free plan gives 2,000 words a week on desktop, with a limited weekly allowance on mobile. Pro is $15 a month or $12 a month billed annually, and Growth is $23 or $18. The pricing page also lists a Notetaker on Mac and Windows. It does not say whether dictation runs on the device, so check that if it matters.

superwhisper

superwhisper turns your voice into text in any app, on Mac, Windows, iOS and Android. The Free plan includes 100+ languages and unlimited Whisper models. It works without an internet connection, and the site notes that offline models run best on Apple silicon Macs and that Intel Macs work better with cloud models. Pro adds cloud and local AI models and your own API keys, and has monthly, yearly and lifetime options. The Pro amount is on its pricing page, and we have not quoted it here.

macOS Dictation

Dictation is built into the Mac. You can add several languages in Keyboard settings and switch between them with the language indicator beside the microphone icon. Dictation is not available in every language or region. Keyboard settings show whether general text dictation is processed on the device. In supported languages it adds punctuation for you.

Everpaper Dictate

Everpaper is our product, and Dictate is a small part of it. Hold fn, speak, let go, and the words land where the cursor is. It works in Italian and English. A sentence that mixes the two stays as you said it, because the clean-up step no longer translates the smaller language. It runs on the Mac with the speech model Everpaper already uses for meetings, never downloads anything on its own, and is off until you turn it on in setup or in Settings, which asks for the microphone. Dictations show up in your Everpaper history.

Limits: two languages, macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon only, private beta with no public price, and no mobile version. If you need German, French or Japanese dictation, pick one of the others. For meetings, Everpaper transcribes 25 European languages: see transcribing meetings in 25 languages.
